Mead question

Frank Hiller Jr.

2018 Brewer of the Year
This is probably by individual preference, but to carbonate or not to carbonate? That is the question!

I have two 2 gallon test batches of mead sitting. I don't know much about mead but figured I'd try it out since I didn't have time to brew.

My rule of thumb is if it's a low alcoholic mead (less than 9%avb) it benefits from a little carbonation, otherwise keep it still.

In addition to what Dan said, I also find that drier meads benefit from more carbonation, and sweeter meads from less or none at all. This is very subjective, of course!
