Go to Bittering hop

Frank Hiller Jr.

2018 Brewer of the Year
And hell, while i'm at it..... what's your go to bittering hop? I know it could varie with what your brewing, but what's your favorite.

I don't have one....

The nice thing about bittering hops is that very little hop character comes through a 60 minute boil. So any high alpha acid hop works, but only because using low alpha hops will cost more. I use a lot of Magnum at 15.7%.

I used Bravo for a while. Had a bunch of it, high AA.

Now that I'm out of it, I don't know what I'll buy next ...

I use a lot of british style hops, East kent golding, fuggle, etc. Nothing to bitter, i like to have the malt come through a lot.

For British beers I usually use Target or Challenger or a combination of them for bittering, they have higher AA then goldings , fuggles etc. I while ago I did a beer with all Pilgrim hops that came oput really well.

i use magnum for the sole reason that i was given an assload of it a while back. like has been mentioned before bittering hops are just BUs nothing more.
