This year's German Society Bierfest will be held on Saturday February 28, at the German Society of PA (611 Spring Garden St., Philly) If you've never been before, it's one of the better beer events in the Philly area, focusing on German styles (so obviously a lot of lagers, but some German ales as well)
In addition to great German beers, food, and music, there is also the Homebräu Keller on the lower level, where 10-15 homebrewers will be pouring. Fish and I will be there, I believe he is doing a pale lager, and I will have a new version of my schwarzbier.
There is a peoples' choice award for the best homebrewer, and the winner gets to brew a full-sized batch at My Local Brewworks to be served at next year's fest.
It's a super-fun day, a little crowded but extremely festive and a great way to shake off some of the ol' wintertime blues.
