FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OAKLYN, NJ (May 4, 2019) – It’s that time of the year, when brewers and craft beer lovers alike join forces to spread the love of homebrewing great beer with the world.

On Saturday May 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, Barley Legal Homebrewers, the largest homebrewing club in Southern New Jersey, are taking a national celebration to the streets of Oaklyn, marking another year the area club is bringing the American Homebrew Association’s Big Brew Day event to the area.

It’s a fun-filled day of home-crafted beer tasting, live music, food by Smoke BBQ of Audubon, and a learning experience for those looking to transform a love of craft beer into a hobby. The event is open to the public, and for a donation of $20.00 to the club you will receive a commemorative beer tasting glass, raffle ticket, samples of our members’ brews, and an opportunity to experience and learn about the hobby of homebrewing firsthand with members brewing onsite using a variety of different methods.

“Every year, Barley Legal participates in the American Homebrewers Association’s Big Brew Day event to celebrate National Homebrew Day,“ said Matt Talbot, President of the Barley Legal Homebrewers Club. “Hundreds of brewers and beer lovers attend our event to learn about brewing and enjoy samples of great, home-crafted beer. We want to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever.”

After U.S. Congress declared May 7 as National Homebrew Day in 1988, the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) created Big Brew Day to bring homebrewers together and educate others about the fun behind homebrewing. Now, on the first Saturday in May, thousands of homebrewers around the world break out their homebrew gear to share their love for the craft with others.

Barely Legal Homebrewers is invites the public to learn more about homebrewing beer and try great brew made by locals who are passionate about the craft.

The event will take place on W. Clinton Avenue between Woodland Terrace and Kendal Boulevard in Oaklyn.

About Barley Legal Homebrewers Club

Founded in January 2010, the Barley Legal Homebrewers is one of the largest homebrewing clubs in southern New Jersey, made up of men and women dedicated to brewing great beer! With members from all over the South Jersey area, our range of expertise is from beginner to brewmaster, and everything in between. Our philosophy is that homebrewing is a challenging but rewarding passion worth every moment – from full brew kettle to empty keg. We welcome anyone into our club, whether they just love beer or simply want to learn more about how it is made. Because improving our knowledge of beer styles helps us become better brewers, we encourage members to bring samples of home brewed beers or microbrews to our meetings which occur the first Tuesday of every month. The rest of what makes us who we are is the fellowship and friendship we enjoy as we share our favorite brews, whether they're from home or another brewery altogether.
