    Prevention of oxidation during packaging

There is probably no off flavor comment i see more during competition than oxidation (carboard flavor for whatever that means). It is a comment that hits me endlessly and a characteristic that I honestly can't detect in my beer. Since it first appeared a couple of years ago in the GSB contest...

2025 Monk Melee Belgian Style Competition

IS anyone dropping off beer entries for the Monk Melee Summer beer competition to Keystone or otherwise going there to pick up stuff in the next day? The deadline for entries is tomorrow. If so LMK. I am looking to avoid driving all the way up there to drop off a single entry.

Time to reach desired CO2 uptake in a keg

A question that has always vexed me is how to calculate the time needed to reach target CO2 volumes at various pressures and volumes. As I have one CO2 tank and I spread it among 4 kegs stored in 2 different locations, I decided to put AI to the task. To the question of how long it takes 12 psi...

Brewery 33 has filed for bankrupcy

Just read that Brewery 33 has filed for bankruptcy and is seeking investors to avoid forclosure. Its a tough business model to make a big investment in equipment that that gives you little more than the ability to run a bar, but one limited only to what you make.

    Garden State Homebrew Competition 2026

Hahaha. I'm not alone. I am not offended nor do i want to diminish the great accomplishment of 2 of our better club brewers. I look to competition to help see where I can improve. Not for ribbons, but for personal enjoyment and some measurement of improvement. So far (only 5 under my belt)...

    BJCP Competition Site

Thought this was an appropriate thread to post some information (videos) I have come across that provide valuable information and tips on how to enter competitions. This one done last year by More Beer! talks about bottling tips for entries. The comment about NOT sanitizing the O2 barrier caps...

    Garden State Homebrew Competition 2026

Here is what I use: However I think I tend to find the bottled beers lower in carbonation that the keg at times, so maybe I am not getting a good enough seal. All my caps have O2 scavanger liners, but I suspect these have shelf lives. If this is an issue I will see it when IO compare the...
