    Jockey box for Legion fundraiser

Hi, I was going to bring this up at this month's meeting, but I couldn't make it. I am a member at the Cherry Hill American Legion post, and on Oct 14 we are having our Oktoberfest fundraiser. I am going to donate a couple of kegs of my Oktoberfest to it. I would like to borrow one of the...

    Supplies Options.

I hate seeing LBHS's close. I've seen several close down over the decades. In my early years of brewing (late-80's, 90s), I had to go to Home Sweet Homebrew in Philly for ingredients (I was customer there even before George and Nancy bought it from a guy named Kurt I think). As far as I knew...

    Kölsch Tips? Yeast suggestions?

The last time I brewed a Kölsch was in 2019. According to my notes, I used Wyeast 2565 (Kölsch), and I wrote "Yeast took off almost right away", which means I must have seen activity by the next day. I did make a yeast starter. That recipe was 85% Pilsner, 15% Munich, Hallertau and Saaz hops...

    What’s everyone brewing

I have a black IPA dry hopping now. I always have a pale ale on tap and decided to have something a little dark for winter

    Round 2

At least it looks like it wouldn't prevent breweries from hosting our meetings, since we can bring our own beer to the "private event". I guess they would count against their 52 allowable events per year though. This isn't new, but one of the dumbest things is requiring a tour of the brewery. I...

Dogfish Head and Boston Brewing to merge

Too little, too late. The trend is local these days. I used to buy Dogfish Head, Stone, Lagunitas, Founders, etc. I rarely buy them anymore. I might splurge for a rare release of something brewed in another part of the country, but that's about it. Now I buy Tonewood, Cape May, Spellbound...

    RoboBrew, Grainfather etc

I have a little more time now than I did when I made my first response, so I'll expand on my (limited) Grainfather experience. My setup before my Grainfather was an Igloo 5-gal cooler mash tun, a Coleman beverage cooler for sparge water, a keggle and an immersion chiller. I used this for years...

    RoboBrew, Grainfather etc

I just bought a Grainfather. Just have one brew under my belt with it so far. I'm happy with it. Makes brew day a lot easier. No more worries about getting my strike water temperature right.

    BeerSmith 3 Thoughts

I installed the new BeerSmith a few weeks ago. It definitely has some improvements, though the basic interface I feel is mostly the same. Though to be honest, I really only upgraded because I just can't fight the urge to have the latest and greatest, and not because there was something in it I...

    Batch sparging, maybe?

You should go for it. I batch sparge most of the time. I do take a hit on efficiency, but it's not that bad. I use BeerSmith and adjust my efficiency on that and adjust my recipe as needed to get the correct gravity. It saves time on the sparge and anything that knocks a few minutes off a long...

    Water chemistry

I have a water softener also. Mine also has a bypass. Sometimes I use the bypass, but then I'm dealing with really hard water (I have a well, and the water from it is supposedly really hard). Advice columns always say to avoid the softened water, buy sometimes I use the softened water and throw...

I'm glad to see this branching out beyond Burlington County. Even though I live in Burlco, many of our members do not.
